Fahmi consulted the Director General of the Broadcasting Department on the status of Euro 2024 broadcast rights
The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil will refer to the Director General of the Broadcasting Department, Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman regarding the latest developments regarding the rights to broadcast the 2024 European football championship (Euro 2024) at the public broadcasting station.
He admitted that the tournament has its own followers, but in-depth research needs to be done especially because it will involve high costs.
“I don’t have the latest information (on the broadcasting status of Euro 2024) and have to consult with the Director General of Broadcasting.
“We have to be careful in terms of cost because we know the cost is too high, so we have to see if it has been allocated. If it has been allocated, we will take it but if it is outside of what has been allocated, it will be an issue,” he said after attending the National Journalist Day Joint Strategic Partner Meeting (Hawana) 2024 at Wisma Bernama on Tuesday.
Recently a media portal insisted that RTM buy the rights to broadcast the prestigious tournament.
RTM previously presented live broadcasts of tournaments such as badminton, football and several other popular sports in Malaysia.
The Euro 2024 tournament will take place from June 14 to July 14. – Named
