Important for us to be in Europe

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, on whether Chelsea can win their remaining three games – against Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Bournemouth – to help them qualify for Europe: “It is important for every single club. It’s true it’s going to be hard. To get us the most [points] I think is to recreate the performance and replicate the way we play and being focused.

“Of course, we know very well we need to win games in the last three games. We then have a possibility to move into a place to play in Europe.

“The team is ready to face the last three games and it is important for us to be in Europe – of course we are focusing on the next game.”

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on the bulk of the club’s injured players returning: “Happy! This is the last week of the season and nearly all the players will be fit and available – it’s a good time.

“It’s good to see the future and be more optimistic.”

On the irony of the season ending when players return fit: “Disappointed, as I think to increase the level and improve everyday we need to asses why we need to do better and improve.

“I think it’s a good challenge for next season…we need to increase the availability of the players.”
