KKB by-election: Don’t vote based on your emotions
HULU SELANGOR – Voters in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area of Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) are advised not to follow their emotions when voting in the by-election (PRK), 11 May.
UMNO Head of Information, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said, on the other hand, voters need to look at the service record of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong who has performed his duties as a representative of the people well.
“So voters need to choose representatives who can help them in local issues (and) choosing a candidate from the government block also gives an advantage to the community here,” he told reporters after visiting the Kuala Kubu Baharu Court building, here on Tuesday. .
Meanwhile, in a separate program with Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Pang Sock Tao, Azalina said that young age is not an obstacle for the former Press Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Local Government to provide good service to the community.
“I have never seen age as a symbol of maturity and for me (what is) more important is the support system from the party to their candidates running here.
“The support system includes the strength of the party, the experience of the party and also advice from those with experience in the party. This includes the existing representatives of the people in the party (and) this will help the candidates (when they win to) carry out their responsibilities to the people,” he said.
In the by-election, Sock Tao was opposed by his three challengers Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Nyau (Bebas).
The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was held following the death of its incumbent, Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.
